Real Madrid plans to sign Alphonso Davies for €30 million this summer

Real Madrid are expected to sign at least one more player this summer after confirming the long-awaited arrival of Kylian Mbappe at the beginning of June. A defender will almost certainly be added, with Lenny Yoro and Alphonso Davies being the main candidates.

At this stage, Yoro’s inclusion seems more likely due to the complications surrounding Davies’ situation over the past few weeks. The good news for Real Madrid is that the 23-year-old remains under contract, although it has yet to be confirmed when he will move to the Spanish capital.

According to “Diario AS”, Davis has terminated contract negotiations with Bayer Munich, which means that he will either leave for a lower fee in 2024 or nothing at all in 2025. There are test offers, one of which will not exceed 30 million euros.

Bayern will want more if they lose Davies this summer, but Real Madrid are prepared to wait until 2025 to get their player for free. If that happens, Ferland Mendy will remain as first-choice left-back, with Fran Garcia taking over as backup. Some board members actually prefer the Frenchman to Davies, although Carlo Ancelotti believes the two can coexist in the same team.

It remains to be seen whether Bayern will cash in on Davies or hold out until next summer in the hope of him signing a new deal. Real Madrid are taking things easy, as they should be.
