Manchester United hoping to steal Real Madrid’s new top target after Kylian Mbappe – Famydz

Famydz – Lille’s Lenny Yoro is one of the most popular young players in the summer transfer window. The right-footed centre-back is reportedly one of Real Madrid’s biggest transfer targets.

Now, reports suggest Manchester United are also interested in the 18-year-old Frenchman.

Manchester United need a centre-back

One of the worst-kept secrets in football at the moment is Manchester United’s interest in Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite. The 21-year-old has been one of the brightest young players in the Premier League this season and has earned a place in England’s provisional squad for the Euros.

The Red Devils have reportedly been keeping an eye on Branthwaite since he made his debut at Carlisle United four years ago.

However, the 21-year-old’s price tag could prevent United from signing him, according to ESPN’s Rob Dawson.

Everton are expected to demand at least £75 million ($95 million) for Branthwaite. Given the club’s financial constraints this summer, they are considering other options.

Manchester United interested in Lenny Yoro

Manchester United’s first choice to replace Branthwaite is Lille’s Lenny Yoro.

Like Branthwaite, Yoro’s name has been a household name for some time. He made his professional debut for Lille at the end of the 2021/22 Ligue 1 season, when he was only 16 years old.

A right-footed player, Yoro could be brought in by United to start alongside Lisandro Martinez and fill the role left by Raphael Varane, who left the club this summer.

Yoro only has one year left on his current contract with Lille. The French club hope to pay £50 million ($64 million) for the 18-year-old. Some reports suggest they are willing to let him go for as little as £30 million ($38 million).

In any case, Yoro is a much cheaper option for Manchester United than Branthwaite. But signing him will be difficult.

Reports in France claim that Yoro specifically asked to join Real Madrid earlier this year. After signing Kylian Mbappe, Los Merengues are expected to make a serious effort to sign him this summer. Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in Yoro.

Other Manchester United centre-back options

Manchester United are hoping to sign two centre-backs this summer. Branthwaite and Yoro are the club’s two top targets, but they have plenty of players to choose from if those two are unavailable.

Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo will be available to sign on a free transfer. Newcastle appear likely to sign him first, but United are reportedly monitoring the situation.

Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmund Tapsoba, Juventus’ Grayson Bremer and Wolves’ Max Kilman have long been linked with United. The Red Devils could potentially bring in any of these players as the summer continues.
