Liverpool player ratings against Aston Villa

Liverpool host Aston Villa at Villa Park earlier this evening as they look to make a strong start in the Premier League. The game started quickly, with the Reds taking the lead in the second minute after an unfortunate own goal from Emiliano Martinez. However, Youri Tielemans equalized for the home side just ten minutes later, before Cody Jacobs put Liverpool back in front in the 23rd minute. Jurgen Klopp’s side went into half-time leading 2-1.

Jarrell Quansah scored the Merseyside club’s third goal with a lovely header in the 48th minute. However, John Dolan scored two goals for Villa in the last minute to help Liverpool draw 3-3 with Villa Park.

Let’s take a look at how each Liverpool player performed against the Villains.

Goalkeeper: Alisson Becker – 5.5/10

The Brazilian goalkeeper made several strong saves in defense but will be disappointed after conceding three goals tonight.

Right Back: Trent Alexander-Arnold – 6/10

He looked far from convincing defensively but did create a good chance going forward.

Midfielder: Jarrell Quasa – 8/10

Kwanza did his job defensively and scored early in the second half with a brilliant header.

Centre-back: Virgil van Dijk – 6.5/10

He looked a little shaky at the back but made some key clearances in his own half.

LB: Joe Gomez – 6.5/10

He loses position at times but makes positive runs with the ball.

CM: Harvey Elliott – 7/10

Elliott works hard and creates some good chances for those around him. He finished the game with a name to his name.

CM: Wataru Endo – 7/10

He controls the midfield well and has good control of the ball.

CM: Alexis McAllister – 5.5/10

McAllister struggled to stabilize the midfield with conviction and was weak on the ball.

R.W.: Mohamed Salah – 7/10

He caused some problems for the opposing defender, but he didn’t score.

ST: Cody Jacob – 7.5/10

Jacob performed well in the Red Army’s attack and scored in the 23rd minute.

Left: Luis Diaz – 7/10

Diaz created some great chances for his teammates, but it never looked like he was scoring.

Alternatives:

ST: Darwin Nunez – 6/10

Failed to settle into the rhythm of the game.

CM: Ryan Gravenberg – 6/10

Gravenberch provided little help after coming off the bench.

CM: Dominik Szoboszlai – 6/10

He lacks ball-handling qualities.
